ROCKSTAR ENERGY HUSQVARNA FACTORY RACING’S ZACH OSBORNE EARNS FIRST-CAREER MOTO WIN AT SOUTHWICK

ANDERSON SECURES A TOP-FIVE FINISH IN THE SAND

It was another day of firsts for Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Zach Osborne, who claimed his first-career 450MX moto-win on Saturday en route to earning a career-best second overall with 3-1 finishes at the Southwick National. Serving as Round 6 of the 2019 AMA Pro Motocross Championship, the Southwick National lived up to its hype by delivering rough and sandy conditions amid the humid summer air of Massachusetts.

Osborne wasn’t able to gain momentum in the qualifying sessions but he quickly made up for it as the gate dropped for Moto 1. He got off to a great start aboard his FC 450 as he battled inside the top-three early on the opening lap. He shuffled around inside the top four before finding his way up to second on lap five, and from there he continued to battle for a podium position, ultimately finishing third. In Moto 2, he shot off the line and into second off the start but he quickly powered his way into the lead on the opening lap. He pushed hard early on to create a comfortable gap over the rest of the field as he continued to ride his own race out front. Leading from start to finish, Osborne created a personal-best finish to notch himself into the runner-up position in the day’s overall. Halfway through his rookie year in the series, Osborne holds a competitive fourth-place in the 450MX Championship Standings.

“I had a really good day,”Osborne said.“I did struggle badly in qualifying but all-in-all I had a good day with 3-1 finishes. I was able to get my first moto-win in the 450 class and I’m super stoked to get that out of the way and really happy to just keep making progress.”

Anderson, the second-place qualifier, got a great jump off the line in Moto 1 but a crash dropped him back to 10th on the opening lap. He battled his way back to finish seventh in the first moto. In Moto 2, Anderson got off to a fourth-place start and he settled into a top-five position by the end of the opening lap. He battled in fifth for the first few laps before briefly dropping to sixth, and then climbed his way back up to fifth. He finished strong in fifth, combining 7-5 finishes for fifth overall.

“My weekend went pretty sub-par,”Anderson said.“We’ll take fifth overall and look forward to improving that for next week.”

It was an up-and-down day for team rider Jordan Bailey, who battled through crashes in both motos to salvage a top-20 overall. After qualifying a season-best position of eighth, Bailey got off to a great start in Moto 1 as he powered his FC 250 into fourth. However, another rider went down in front of him causing him to crash early on. He got going in 23rd and battled his way up to finish 15th in Moto 1. In the second moto, Bailey came together with another rider off the start and once again began the race in a deficit as he rounded the opening lap in 17th. He battled around that position for the remainder of the race, where he ultimately finished 18th in the race and 17th overall for the day.

“The day started out pretty good, I had my best qualifying position for an outdoor national,”Bailey said.“In the second moto, I was trying to push but about halfway through I just really started feeling the effects from last week in Florida and I didn’t have much left for the rest of the race. So, this week I’ll work on getting back to 100% and head into RedBud.”

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Michael Mosiman did not line up at the Southwick National on Saturday, due to a minor crash sustained during a routine practice session last week. Mosiman is set to return to racing next weekend, July 6, at the RedBud National.
