THE MXGP OF LATVIA IN KEGUMS RENEWS FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS.
Infront Moto Racing made a significant announcement regarding the extension of the contract with Kegums and the MXGP of Latvia. This renewed agreement is set to span the next three years, from 2024 to 2026.
The official signing of this multi-year contract took place amidst the exciting atmosphere of the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations event. Infront Moto Racing CEO David Luongo, was present for this occasion, joined by FIM/CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela, President of Latvian Motorcycle Federation Martins Lazdovskis and MXGP of Latvia Organiser Kristers Sergis. Together, they proudly announced the continuation of their collaboration.
This renewal shows once again the incredible collaboration between all the parties to make the MXGP of Latvia a staple of the FIM Motocross World Championship Calendar. Kegums, which has consistently hosted an MXGP event every year since 2009, including the 2014 Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations, has firmly established itself as a pivotal destination on the MXGP Calendar. Additionally Latvia is a great country of Champions with the likes of local hero Pauls Jonass together with the freshly crowned EMX125 Presented by FMF Racing Janis Martins Reisulis and 65cc Junior World Cup Winner Patricks Cirulis.
Infront Moto Racing CEO, David Luongo: “For all the motocross fans, Kegums has become an integral part of the MXGP Calendar. The venue was always a pioneer in evolving and improving Grand Prix. There is also a new generation in Latvia with young riders coming through from the European classes, so clearly Latvia is a big market and an important place for motocross. I would also like to thank Martins because the Latvian Federation is helping a lot with the relationship with the Latvian Government and the support of the race. It’s a race that has been in the Calendar for many years and we feel welcome and we believe in a great future for the Grand Prix in the years to come. It’s a great news for MXGP, for Latvia and for the Latvian riders.”
FIM/CMS Director, Antonio Alia Portela: “Having Kegums again in the calendar for the next three years is a welcome news because Kegums has been with us through difficult times and now when the sport is showing the muscle, they’re still back again with us. So we are very happy to have Kegums in the calendar this season and what’s more is that interest is growing in Latvia. It must be said that it is thanks to all the effort of Martins and Kristers are doing and this is a flourishing time for the motocross sport in Kegums”
President of Latvian Motorcycle Federation Martins Lazdovskis: “Thank you! For us as a small country with just over 2 million people it’s an honour to host such an event and to conclude this contract here (Ernée) in this fantastic atmosphere. We could hope also that it might be a day when the Monster Energy FIM Motocross of Nations will come back to Latvia. It’s an honour for us to sign a contract to host the MXGP Championship for the next three years, there are not enough good words to describe how good our cooperation is with Infront Moto Racing and the FIM. Without their effort and courage, it would not be possible. Also from our perspective, we have riders who are showing up at the top level which is encouraging for the future of Latvia in the Motocross of Nations”
