2019 MXGP of Turkey official opening Ceremony.
The 2019 MXGP of Turkey, which is taking place in Afyon this weekend, was officially opened today as a warm media event was held at the main stage of the Afyon festival area.
Again this year the MXGP of Turkey is featuring several activities that fans can attend during the weekend turning the MXGP round as a real moto festival with loads of surprises for both the MXGP community and spectators like it happened in 2018.
Youthstream CEO David Luongo, FIM/CMS Director Antonio Alia Portela, TMF PRESIDENT Bekir Yunus Uçar, Manager of Sport Services Mehmet Baykan, Afyonkarahisar Governor Mustafa Tutulmaz, Afyonkarahisar Mayor Mehmet Zeybek and Head Provincial Council of Afyonkarahisar Burhanettin Coban gathered on stage to share their commitment and showing their appreciation to organize the MXGP of Turkey in Afyon for the second year in a row.

Furthermore, when we see how passionately this event is being handled in every single detail, I am sure the future for MXGP in Turkey looks brilliant compensating all the efforts which have been made so far. Turkish Motorcycling Federation President Bekir Yunus Uçar: „As Turkish Motorcycling Federation, we are proud and glad to host the Motocross World Championship in Afyonkarahisar, the ancient city of Anatolian civilizations, for the second time. To this big honor, it has also been added the responsibility of hosting the event with support of President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. We are pleased to host MXGP once again on our track, which was among the best in its first year and crowned with “The Best Infrastructure Award”.
Manager of Sport Services Mehmet Baykan: “I came to Afyonkarahisar while Afyon Sports Complex was under construction. This area is now a stunning facility, I’m very happy to see its wonderful conditions now. As Turkey, it fills us with pride to host the most important motocross championship of the world.”
Afyonkarahisar Governor Mustafa Tutulmaz: „This year the MXGP and MX2 races are joined by the WMX and EMX2t Presented by FMF Racing races and it has been such a good organization to have this event put in place. Thanks to the pubic institutions, our President, the Ministry of Sport and the Turkish Federation who gave a significant contribution”
Afyonkarahisar Mayor Mehmet Zeybek: “Afyonkarahisar Motorsports Center has been prepared by both the federation and Afyonkarahisar Municipality to meet the standards of our country’s international sports organizations. Our track, built on an area of 250-thousand square meters, received “The Best Infrastructure Award” last year. Here we are happy to have the Motocross World Championship once again. I welcome both riders and teams to come to our city.”
Head Provincial Council of Afyonkarahisar Burhanettin Coban: “I noticed in a race in Belgium that one of the 10 most popular sports branches in the world was motocross and we started to build a world-class motocross track in our province. In 2018, we decided to host the Motocross World Championship in Afyonkarahisar and it was a great race last year. This year we will do our best to make it work even better”
